PREQUALIFICATION TEST EXPERIENCE ON EHV XLPE CABLE SYSTEMS

Extensive practical experience has been gained inrnconnection with the performance ofrnprequalification tests according to CIGRErnrecommendations on EHV XLPE cable systems atrnboth the 400 kV and 500 kV levels.rnThe results of such tests have confirmed thatrnstate-of-the-art EHV XLPE cable systems,rnmanufactured using properly selected materialsrnand technologies and assembled by skilledrnpersonnel using suitable techniques, possess arnhigh degree of reliability and considerable safetyrnmargins.rnFurthermore, said results have also shown thatrndesign stresses similar to those of EHV SCFFrncable systems can be adopted for the above EHVrnXLPE cable systems.
