RELIABILITY COST ASSESSMENT OF POWER TRANSMISSION NETWORKS IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF REREGULATED ELECTRICAL ENERGY MARKET

The objective of the paper is to describe an efficient andrnimproved computational methodology that can be usedrnfor the reliability cost assessment studies of powerrntransmission networks. The real design and operationalrnfeatures and practices applied in the reregulated electricrnenergy market are represented realistically andrnefficiently. The basic features of this methodology arernthe recognition of different interruption costs atrndifferent buses and the consideration of the duration ofrnsystem contingencies. Various case studies werernconducted using the IEEE Reliability Test System whilernthe market simulation is based on the principles of arnmodel that is under development to be used in thernreregulated electrical power market in Greece. Thesernstudies take into account the power interruption costsrnthat were estimated through a customer survey beingrnconducted recently in Greece.
