The sampling and analysis of various coal slurry impoundments, thickener underflow and unprocessed materials from existing preparation plants throughout the United States and Canada indicate potential to install viable advanced fine coal recovery systems at many mine sites. These recovery systems are designed to utilize advanced fine coal technologies that are available to the coal industry. The recovery systems incorporate the following technologies: 200 TPH all-electric hydraulic transportable dredge, compound spirals, deslime cyclone circuit, DBD (processing and drying) technology, hyperbaric screenbowls, briquette/extrusion technology to develop engineered coal fuels and paste thickening applications to handle slurry refuse re-deposition. The fine coal recovery plant circuits treat three (3) basic product streams the +100 mesh, 100 mesh × 325 mesh and 325 mesh × 0. The recovery plant will have the ability to keep separate fine coal products or to blend the product streams or briquette/pelletize as needed to comply with the market and blending specifications of the coal at the existing coal preparation plant.
