摘要

A highly sensitive two-channel integrated optical Young interferometer has been fabricated as the first step towards the building of a multichannel integrated interferometer immunosensor. The device shows a phase sensitivity of 1X10~(-4) fringes corresponding to a refractive index change of 2X10~(-8). The experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical calculations. The principle of a two-channel Young interferometer can be elegantly expanded to a multichannel device by positioning the output channels at well-defined distances from each other.
