Case history of lime-soil columns for reinforcing soft soil

This paper presents a case history of mixed lime-soil column composite foundation used in a 10-store building at Taiyuan, Shanxi, P R China. Together with the project, the physical and mechanical characteristics of soil before and after reinforcing are studied, the reinforcing effect being discussed. By using nonlinear finite element analysis with site loading test, the bearing behaviour and deformation of the composite foundation with mixed lime-soil columns was calculated and analyzed.
