Field experiment was conducted at Mugad, Karnataka, India on sustainable production of drillrnsown upland rice through vermitechnology during wet seasons of 1994-96.The treatments consistedrnof flat bed or BBF (Broad bed & furrow) layout with or without vermiculture, integrated withrnFYM@10 tha-1 or vermicompost @ 2.5 tha-1 and 0,50 and 100 % of RDF, laid out in split-split plotrndesign. Productivity of upland rice improved by 9.5 % in flat bed and by 16.4 % in BBF due tornvermiculture. Vermiculture with FYM or vermicompost without any fertilizers could sustainrnproductivity to the level of RDF in the long run even under moisture stress. Whereas, integrating itrnwith 50 to 100 % RDF could further increase the productivity and net returns.
