摘要

The Jingtang Port is located between two estuaries on the north side of the Bohai Bay, the Daqinghe Estuary and the Luanhe Estuary. The adjacent coastline of the port is NE~SW orientation, with some longshore bars and lagoons. The port is the first Chinese large port built on fine sand coasts where sediment transport is relatively active. Due to the sediment coming from the Luanhe River decreased shapely, longshore transport resulted in erosions along the downdrift coastline. As a remote sensing media, satellite images can record the shore line positions and the nearshore bar shapes. Such images were used to analysis evolution of the coastline near the port, and to further study the sediment transport characteristics and the reason of siltation in the access channel. Comparisons of the images at different time showed that the offshore sides of the bars retreated, while the outlines of the bars shifted southwestward, which indicated that the longshore transport was from northeast to southwest. The sediment was stirred up by large waves and transported by strong tidal currents, which caused the sudden siltation in the access channel.
