Experimetnal and modeling studies for the adsorption of water-ethanol binary liquid mixtures on a commercial molecular sieve 4A were undertaken. Surface capacities for water and ethanol were measured at 303.2K and 323.2K. Surface excesses of water were also measured at the temperatures. In the modeling of the surface excesses, the adsorbed amount was assumed linear to the surface concentration. The fugacity coefficients of both componens in liquid phase were predicted with the UNIQUAC model and those in adsorbed phase were assumed ideal. One of the most important parameters i nthe liquid phase adsorption model, the surface energy difference of water and ethanol, was obtained through the regression of the surface excess data. The model well represented the experimental measurements.
