How to predict the collapse vibration velocity when a high chimney or the building was demolished by blasting, the author reviewed the formulae for calculating the collapse vibration velocity given in the references and demonstrated the formula in physically and the selection of parameters in it for clarifying the discrepancy quoted. The paper specialize the examples to express the application of formula for calculating the collapse vibration velocity. It is indicated that the intensity of the collapse vibration can be significantly decreased by 70% when the methods and materials for decreasing vibration are adopted.
