Several benefits can be realized by the introduction of post-tensioned reinforcement to concrete seismic lateral resisting systems. Direct structural benefits include improved ductility, reduced mild steel reinforcing and self-centering behavior. The ability to eliminate residual drift represents a major innovation in seismic design.rnAdditionally, savings in carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emission were realized through integrating high-slag concrete in the structural system. These characteristics played an important role in meeting the sustainability goals of the David Brower Center.
