Based on the personal-computer and LabVIEW program language, a real-time monitoring system was designed and implemented. Research showed that the monitoring system is helpful for the control and achievement of processing quality and efficiency, and this paper describes some applications during ELID grinding research. Being combined with Hall sensor, this monitoring system was used for real-time monitoring of current and voltage during precision truing of diamond wheel and ELID grinding of silicon nitride. By means of 3-component force sensor, this system was used for measurement and analyzing of grinding forces during ELID grinding. Furthermore, with the help of a capacitance micrometer, diamond wheel's surface profile was accurately measured when it is rotating at working speed.
