EXPLORING ERP POST-IMPLEMENTATION SUCCESS: FINDINGS FROM CASES IN A DEVELOPED AND A DEVELPING COUNTRY

Although ERP systems are increasingly implemented worldwide, very few firms have been using them effectively. This, among other things, shows clearly the importance of the post-implementation stage and the effective ERP assimilation in guaranteeing the system's benefits. Given the fact that most of ERP research have concentrated on developed countries, there has been a dearth on studies done on developing countries. Drawing on ERP literature and the diffusion of innovation theory and using a qualitative research methodology, this study sheds light on the determinants of successful assimilation using insights from an analysis of four case studies in a developed and a developing country. The results of the comparative analysis showed the existence of certain similarities in key ERP assimilation success factors between the two countries. In the same vein, this article made a strong case that differences between the two groups of firms are related more to their organizational contexts than to cultural differences.
