In the first phase of hydrogen energy deployment, the lack of refueling stations will be amajor obstacle to the development in the future public domain. As far as captive fleet will beconcerned there are no major hurdles to supply the hydrogen to the place where vehicles usedto proceed with the fuel refilling. Nevertheless first H2 vehicles captive fleets will be smalland do not necessitate a huge H2 filling station investment.It is also likely that the first projects will be confronted to the storage problem of vehicles andtheir maintenance. Installations may have to be modified to enable them to accommodatehydrogen propelled vehicles safety rules. The required structures exist or will exist at theManufacturers place but not necessarily at all of them and at potential partners.Under these conditions, it seems appropriate to consider solutions making possible theovercoming of these difficulties.Our proposal aims at making possible the on-board hydrogen storage to be filled, maintainedand repaired, separately from the vehicle (thermal or electric). The swap rack H2 storageshould then be handled by industrial gas company network like industrial gas cylinderproducts are handled. The entire high pressure swap-rack system could them be completelychecked at regular intervals.This possibility, although not strictly necessary, can be regarded as a safety and economicadvantage accompanying the development of a new energy vector.
