30 YEARS OF TRAFFIC NOISE PROBLEMS AND COUNTERMEASURES TAKEN IN GREATER CAIRO, EGYPT

摘要

This research connected with traffic noise problems and countermeasures taken inGreater Cairo in 30 years. Traffic noise problems became clear in Greater Cairo in 1970`sdue to the increasing of population from the rate of growth and internal immigration, andincreasing numbers of cars. From 1985 the World Health Organization and InternationalOrganizations, which concerned with environment announced that the air of street ofGreater Cairo contains the highest percentage of air pollutions from exhaust of vehicles.Measurements taken for traffic noise levels indicated that noise levels in the city are toohigh with comparison with the recommended noise levels by all regulation in differentcountries. So that makes the city in the front of Capitals from aspect of noise level andcontinuous periods. In our paper we have presented measurements and countermeasurestaken for traffic noise problems in the last 30 years.
