It is clear that active noise control has a very strong future in industry. However what is notclear and difficult to predict is the time frame which will characterise forward progress. Manyoutrageous claims for future the technology have been made and it is clear that practicalconsiderations as well as physical acoustics principles will prove some of these to be unfounded.However, at the same time there is a growing accumulation of successful commercialinstallations as well as some novel laboratory demonstrations which are gradually giving activenoise control the credibility that it deserves.
