Plumbing Noise: Sound pressure levels and human perception in a luxury condominium

A recent consulting project presented the opportunity to measure plumbing noise in all 9 units ofa luxury condominium building in Palo Alto, California and to compare those measurementswith comments on noise concerns made by the residents. Although this was not a scientificallycontrolled sampling of the population at large, the results do provide an interesting snapshot ofthe perception of plumbing noise in one upscale residence.
