A project team striving to achieve high performance requires more than management. It requiresleadership. A Project Manager treats the body of the project – the stuff – improving productivitythrough techniques and technology. A Project Leader treats the soul – the human relationships ofteam members. S/he develops the team’s capacity to be more productive by improving the humandynamics among team members. Combining the two creates a powerful synergy. This presentationdescribes a Function Analysis and FAST based tool used by the author and his colleagues to do thisimportant work with teams. Culture and leadership, concepts important to project leadership areintroduced. Instructions for using the tool are given. Examples of results from several project teamsare presented.
