Experimental study on 18 steel fibre reinforced concrete beams indicates that steel fibres can not only be effectively used as shear reinforcement but also provide better crack distribution, more homogenous crack pattern and significant reduction in crack with. RC beams were made with 100x150 mm cross-section and 2 m length reinforced with 2016 longitudinal steel bars. Experimental variables were the used steel fibre type (Dramix~® ZC 30/.5 hooked-end, D&D~® ~30/.5 crimped), the applied steel fibre content (0V%, 0.5 V% and 1.0V%) and the amount of stirrup reinforcement (0, Φ6/240 and Φ4/240, Φ6/120 and Φ4/120), respectively.
