1 REFERENCE FRAMEWORKrnThe session started with a presentation of both the concepts in engineering practice where it would be advantageous to make explicit use of structural reliability methods, and the actors involved, namely those professionals who should be involved in different stages or activities in the process:rn- Lines of application: engineering design, construction quality control, vulnerability and risk assessment;rn- Actors involved: code writers, design engineers (structures, foundations, etc.), construction managers and supervisors, educators.
