Linking Resource Depletion to Economic Performance of the Coal- Mining Regions

The system of national accounting is primarily focused at measuring economic performance at different levels. However, formal measures of economic activity may be quite misleading, since they don't give a comprehensive idea of quality parameters of growth. One of the issues is relation between the economic activity and environment. The paper describes an approach to the calculation of coal depletion adjusted regional macroeconomic aggregates for the coal mining regions of the Czech Republic. Its first part introduces the methodological approach to resource rent and depletion modeling. In its second part the coal depletion adjusted macroeconomic aggregates at the level of the coal mining regions of the Czech Republic are presented.
