The present study has been done to present the research findings pertaining to environmental health effects of unsafe lead used in lead based industries. Lead is used as a raw material in metal finishing industries, mechanical engineering industries, automobile vehicular exhausts, computer software industries, electrical and electronics industries and lead based industries . An environmental impact assessment report revealed that the lead has polluted the environment beyond 250 μg/m~3 and lead contaminated products of about 30 ppm (mg/kg). A heath survey was carried out for characterization and assessment on lead pollution in industries. This shows that there are adverse health impacts on occupationally health exposed workers . A synergistic model has also been presented to assess the potential impacts due to the unsafe lead in these industries on humans for incorporating mitigate measures . On the basis of the health survey, lead-based industries have to implement workmen compensation and occupational diseases law. Also, industries have to control lead pollution by incorporating lead pollution control equipments and cleaner technologies.
