摘要

Research on the improvement for the saturated soft soil using tamping method was fist summarized in this paper. Based on the former studies on tamping method, a new approach to soft soil improvement was proposed, which was named high vacuum densification method. The outstanding characteristic for this new method is due to drainage mechanisms with porous water pressure difference. Furthermore, the working procedures and mechanics for the high vacuum densification method were examined. The new method for soft soil improvement is creative. Successive studies on this new method are very significant to its theory and application.
