Phytoremediation of Lead with Buttonwood in Urban Polluted Soils

Evaluation of toxic metal concentration in soil and plants in environment are the most important subject according to health of ecosystem. This study was carried out with investigation on density of lead in urban polluted soils with tree species such as buttonwood in Rasht City. To this aim, 120 samples of leaves and surface roots of trees in polluted site and control site were collected and then lead concentration in each of them was determined by Atomic Absorption Instrument. (Model Varian 220). Result indicated that buttonwood the high value of lead concentration and translocation factor was 14.39 ppm and 3.49respectively. These recent this specie is used for phytoremediation of lead in the same conditions. Plant species can transfer lead to their aerial organ in order to have the least accumulation of this element in their underground organ.
