Ti-Al intermetallic matrix composite with interpenetrating A1_2O_3 fiber was fabricated in situ by sintering the prefabricated pieces consisted of TiO_2,Ti, Al and other trace metallic elements in non-oxidizing atmosphere up to 1220℃. The final phases and microstructure were analyzed by XRD, SEM coupled with EDS. The principle of the synthesis process and the conditions on fiber development were investigated as well. It is found that the spontaneous fibers are nearly netted distribution, and the additives have strong influences on the fibers. And whether the A1_2O_3 fibers exist largely depends on the molar ratio of the components and processing parameters.
