A new set of measurements of pressure drops and liquid holduprntaken at TEASistemi Laboratory under conditions ofrnstratified gas-liquid flow has been used to improve the closurernrelations adopted in MAST, a new transient one-dimensionalrnmultiphase flow simulator. These data are relative to waternitrogenrnflow in a 3.15 in (80 mm) horizontal pipe operating atrnpressures in the range 72.5-362.6 psig (5-25 bar). The resultsrnobtained allowed a more reliable description of stratified gasliquidrnflow in hydrocarbon transportation pipelines. Arncomparison with the performance of other flow simulators isrnalso presented.
