Dichlorodiphenyltrichchloroethane (DDT) is a type of persistent organochlorine pollutant, which can result in cancer and other diseases by bioaccumulation. It has two forms r,r¢-DDT and o,r¢-DDT. R,r¢-DDT can be degraded to r,r¢-DDE under aerobic condition and to r,r¢-DDD under anaerobic condition. This work studies its spatial distribution characteristics at different altitudes and depths in the soil. In the neighborhood of Chengdu City, Deyang City and Leshan City, the concentration of DDTs is more than 4.62 ng/g, greater than in other areas. As altitude increases, the concentration of DDT in the soil decreases. DDT in the low altitude area (basin centre) was the source for the high altitude area (basin edge) through the process of atmospheric transfer and sedimentation. The reason for high concentration DDT in Leshan City is that there is high content DDT residues and new DDT pesticide (Dicofol). High concentration DDT in soil has an effect on plant and human.
