Biophysical Therapies employing an Electromagnetic Information Transfer Through Aqueous System (EMITTAS) procedure has been shown to be effective in transferring on neuroblastoma cell line the activity of retinoic acid, and similarly it has been mimicked the effect of tiroxine, phorbol-myristate acetate, and other molecules. Nevertheless, no data were available concerning the possible effect of a biophysical therapy (Med Select 729, Wegamed, Germany) on hormonal pattern in humans. A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled study to test the possible effect on the hormonal asset of electronically transmitted ethynyl-oestradiol by mean of an EMITTAS in post-menopausal women. 40 patients were randomly assigned to one of 2 groups: one receiving a true electronically transmitted ethynyl oestradiol; and the other receiving a shame one through the same carrier (Nomabit Base, Named, Italy) as placebo control. The blood levels of LH, FSH, and Oestradiol were assessed at baseline and after 10 days. A total of 38 patients completed the study, 19 in the biophysical and 19 in the control group. Mean baseline level of LH was 23.7± 8.5UI/l in the biophysical group and 26.7± 9.0 in the control group (p = 0.29).
