摘要

In this paper frequency selective surface (FSS) is designed to form a radome for millimeter-wave automotive radar applications. Automotive radars are normally integrated behind a plastic and painted bumper which means a complicated environment to the radar and also leads to the degradation of the radar performance. Frequency selective surface here is introduced to match the bumper and paint layer to free space and reduce the reflection coefficient. Different kinds of frequency selective surface are investigated and compared in details. With the application of frequency selective surface, the matching between painted bumper and free space is improved with 6 dB and farfield gain of radar antenna is enhanced.
