Graphic style guides for effective mill operations

摘要

Effective mill operations depend on valid information being presented to those who can evaluate, decide, and take action in a real time environment. The desire for "single window" operations has many perceived benefits but still lacks a well though out implementation. Corporate knowledge management efforts are wasted without effective depolyment to support real-time decisions. This paper discusses the criteria to create graphic style guides that act as a virtual overlay to control and information systems and fofers an evolution to the human-machine interface challenge. An example of such a graphic style guide is presented which can be immediately adopted for use on new and existing systems.
