Mechanical characteristics of the gas-hydrate-bearing sediments arernessential for the prediction of the geomechanical response to gasrnextraction from the gas-hydrate reservoir. In this study, drained triaxialrncompression tests were conducted on artificial methane-hydrate-bearingrnsediments containing fine fraction at several axial strain rates fromrn0.001 %/min to 0.1 %/min. It was found that the strength of thernhydrate-bearing specimen depends on the strain rate regardless of therntype of sand forming the skeleton of the specimen and that the finernfraction affects the time dependence of hydrate-bearing sediment.
