The need to study the strain-based pipeline behaviour subjected tornbending and pressure pushed the development of an improved full-scalernfacility as pre-requisite for undertaking realistic tests. The experimentalrnactivities in several ENI's projects on very high strength steel pipesrnmade available a consistent database for building a robust numericalrnmodel.rnThis paper provides a description of CSM's testing device, specificallyrndesigned to test large diameter gas linepipe in plastic regime. Thernexperimental data has been used for comparison with the results from arncomputational FE model able to predict pipeline buckling behaviour.rnThis paper addresses the main key-points and results of this model.
