Environmental measurement of Dokai Bay surrounded by a Japanesernleading heavy and chemical industrial area is evaluated as one of thernsuccess instances from the heavy industrial pollution which degradedrnthe bay’s ecosystem to be called “the dead sea”. After the restoration,rnthe bay newly encounters the water pollution including man-madernchemical contamination and eutrophication. We start therncomprehensive investigation and research reviving the rich aquaticrnecosystem. In this paper, we reported the outline of condensed andrntypical water pollution history of the bay and our present results andrnplan of new research improving the bay’s ecosystem.
