Multi-Channel Analysis of Surface Waves: Inversion Strategy

An inversion strategy is applied to surface-wave analysis. The determination of arnvertical shear-wave velocity profile in soil is very important to geotechnicalrnengineering. Vertical shear-wave velocity profiles are obtained by inverting therndispersive phase velocity of the surface waves using the multichannel analysis ofrnsurface waves. Two types of inversions are used: one involves using a dispersionrnimage and the second one uses dispersion curves. The dispersion curve is used as anrninput to a gradient-based iterative method and Monte-Carlo search for dispersionrnimages. Uncertainty in the shear wave velocity model is evaluated as well.
