The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the difference in the effects onrnthe indoor luminous environment between clear glass window in modern houses andrnwindows in traditional houses on which traditional Korean papers ‘Sunji (thin Hanjirn100% made of mulberry bark, the main material for making Hanji) and ‘Unyongji’rn(Hanji that is exclusively used as window wallpaper) are pasted.rnFor this purpose, a mock-up model living room (size of the room is 4800×7400×2400mm)rnwas set up in the rooftop of a technology building in K University. The HOBO U12 andrnNikon Coolpix8400 (Photolux2.1 Software) were used to measure the illuminancernon a horizontal plane of room, the luminance of window and surroundings.rnAs a result of analyzing the average indoor daylight factor, the window pasted withrnUnyongji reduced daylight penetration and the luminance was lowest in the windowrnposted with Unyongji in comparison with the others. It was reasoned therncharacteristics of the Unyongji which rarely transmit daylight.rnIn conclusion, Hanjis could be applied to modern houses because it helps to reducernthe rapid change of indoor luminous environment caused by constantly change in thernamount of direct daylight.
