A series of low cycle fatigue and creep-fatigue tests on smooth specimens and notched specimens were performed with a superalloy used in the manufacture fo aeroengine turbine discs. The cyclic stress-strain behavior an fractre characteristics of the notched specimens were emphatically investigated. A comparison of fatigue behavior between smooth an notched specimens was done and lifetime of notched pspecimens was evaluated. At the same temperature, the fatigue-creep lives of the smooth spectimens are far greater than that of the notched specimens.
