Research on the Global Product Development and Cooperation Strategy for Platform Innovation

Recently,global product development and cooperation has received increasing interest from academics and practitioners. In response,this paper shows that the product innovation cycle and the innovation cost of manufacturing enterprises may be reduced through using the product platform innovation method. Development strategy based on the independent product and based on the product platform is analyzed. Specifically,the merits of product development strategy based on the platform are pointed out. In addition,product development process model facing the platform innovation is proposed. The model mainly includes three parts: platform establishment process,configuration resource database construction process and platform application process. Global product development and cooperation strategies for the platform innovation are analyzed.
