The use of GIS for disaster management can readily failrndue to the unavailability of spatial data in real-time.rnAlthough Internet GIS provides proprietary ways to allowrnusers to quickly access, display and query spatial datarnover the web, the heterogeneity of existing GIS and thernfile-level data sharing systems over the web causesrnproblems for time-critical disaster management that needrnreal-time data access to the most up-to-date information.rnThis paper proposed a framework of real-time spatial datarnsharing at feature level by using geospatial semantic webrnservices. The results from an implemented prototypernshow that the approach has great potential towards datarnsharing in real time over the web for disaster managementrnapplications. However, several challenges of the approachrnillustrate that we still seem far away from the ideal ofrnseamless access to geospatial information and services forrneffective disaster management.
