The Excellence Center for Development Cooperation –rnSustainable Water Management in Developing Countries,rnimplemented by TU Braunschweig together with 23rnpartner universities in developing countries, is one of fivernprojects on Millennium Development Goals MDG, whichrnwere awarded funding with one million Euro per yearrneach over a five-year period by the German Ministry forrnDevelopment Cooperation (BMZ) and the GermanrnAcademic Exchange Service (DAAD).rnThrough its specific study programs and researchrnprofile, TU Braunschweig offers outstanding expertise inrnSustainable Water Management in Developing Countries.rnPioneering research and academic cooperation projectsrnwith strategic partners from developing countries in LatinrnAmerica, the Middle East, and South-East Asia have beenrndeveloped with a strong focus on sustainable andrntransferable solutions for each country’s predominantrnwater-related issues.rnBased on a world-wide network of 24 partners thernExcellence Center will focus on capacity building inrndeveloping countries through training of and networkingrnbetween experts. The Coordinating Unit is located at thernTU Braunschweig; three Satellite Centers are establishedrnat the Mut’ah University in Karak, Jordan, thernUniversidad de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, andrnthe Water Resources University in Hanoi, Vietnam.rnThe project partners are aiming at extending therncooperation also to the Sub-Sahara Region. Thisrnpresentation given by the project chairman is going tornprovide an insight into the project’s goals in order torndiscover interested colleagues from the Sub-SahararnRegion and to establish an African Branch of thisrnworldwide network for capacity building throughrneducation.
