Shortage of oil is imminent in the near future and CO_2-rnemissions have to be reduced dramatically in the nextrndecades to contain global climate warming. A possiblernapproach to solve these problems is a change in thernmobility sector via the reduction of fossil fueled vehicles.rnOne of the most promising alternative approaches isrnhydrogen technology. Nevertheless, major questions havernto be answered before a hydrogen mobility market can bernestablished. Here, a major issue is, whether fuel should bernproduced in major plants or on -site, directly at fillingrnstations. In this paper, we try to answer this questionrnbased on a mathematical model that investigatesrneconomic and ecological consequences of bothrnproduction modes.
