An interface-preserving level-set numerical method has beenrnincorporated into a Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) methodrnfor the simulation of wave runup and greenwater effect on offshorernstructures. In this method, the free surface flows are modeled asrnimmiscible air-water two-phase flows and the free surface itself isrnrepresented by the zero level-set function. Calculations were performedrnfirst for two- and three-dimensional problems for dam-breaking flowrnand free jet problems involving violent free surface motions. The levelsetrnRANS method was then employed for the simulation of greenwaterrnon offshore structures and slamming on platform deck. The numericalrnresults clearly demonstrated the capability of the level-set method torndeal with complex free surface flows involving breaking waves, waterrndroplets and trapped air bubbles.
