A number of in situ and remote sensing techniques forrnthe measurement of upper tropospheric andrnstratospheric O3 content was employed during dedicatedrnexperiments of the ESABC programme, aiming at thernvalidation of the ENVISAT chemistry payload. In thisrnpaper, we will be focusing on the validation of MIPASrnoff-line products, by presenting the results of thernintercomparison between MIPAS O3 vertical profilesrnand aircraft and balloon correlative measurements.rnFirst priority is given to the validation of processorrnv4.61 data, but individual results of 2002 and 2003rnballoon observations are also compared with MIPAS O_3rnnon operational data. Some general remarks are finallyrnexpressed, along with specific recommendation to fullyrnexploit the available ESABC validation dataset.
