Routing Protocols for Automatic Meter Reading systems using Wireless Networks: A Review

摘要

Automatic Meter Reading is a Technology which helps the utility providers to collect the consumption data from the meters automatically and periodically. This saves the expense of manual trip to the house to read the meter and also is time efficient. It helps the consumer to optimise the usage upon receiving the alerts from the company. Traditionally AMR was implemented using Power line Communication or SMS based GSM technology. The evolution of sensor technology and advancements in wireless mesh networks has made AMR implementation cost efficient and ensures higher quality performance. This paper aims to review the Routing protocols which can be applied in the implementation of AMR using Wireless Networks.
