The flood storage and detention basin, on the one hand, requires to storage floods in a timely manner when excessive flooding with the expense of local and the protection of the overall situation; people in flood storage and detention basin, on the other hand, demand the living and development, which form a complex acute contradictions. There is the application for Remote Sensing (RS)and Geographical Information System (GIS)technology to build GIS-based spatial database model of flood storage and detention basin, as well as the basic geographic data storage, management and visualization of spatial data and spatial analysis operation. RS technology should be used to in detention area for dynamic monitoring land use, eco-environmental changes as well as setting up flood development indicators system. Exploration of the harmonious development of flood storage and detention basin model for the sustainable development should be carried out, thus providing a scientific theory for the flood storage of its sustainable development.
