Effects of Electric Field Repeated Treatment on the Properties of Electrorheological Fluids Based on Barium Titanyl Oxalate nanoparticles

摘要

The electrorheological (ER) fluid based on BaTiO(C2O4)2 nanocoparticles, which are prepared by the oxalate precipitation method, is fabricated using methyl silicon oil as dispersing medium. The structure and properties of the BaTiO(C2O4)2 nanoparticles and their based ER fluid are investigated before and after the ER fluid being treated by electric field. The results show that the ER fluid based on BaTiO(C2O4)2 nanocoparticles exhibits distinct ER effect and poor repetition. After repeated treated 10 times by linear electric field strength from 0 to 4kV/mm, the electric field-induced shear stress, current density and dielectric constant of the ER fluid decrease while its repetition significantly improve. It can be explained by the TEM images of ER Fluid before and after treatment. It is suggest that some irreversible interaction among the BaTiO(C2O4)2 nanoparticles has been occurred during the initial electric field treatment.
