The application of electric and magnetic fields to the processing of materials,so called "Electromagnetic Processing of Materials(EPM)",has been recognized as a cuttingedge technology,especially in the fields of steelmaking and advanced materials processing.The present state of EPMis given through a brief introduction of several examples of the applications of a high frequency magnetic field,a DC magnetic field,DC magnetic and eletric fields and a traveling magnetic field.A new trend of EPM in the application of "Magnetization force" and the utilization of "Magnetoacoustic wave" is discussed and a view of the future of EPM is revealed.
