COMPUTER ASSISTED MONITORING SYSTEM FOR VINYL CHLORIDE IN AMBIENT AIR

The purpose of this paper is to describe the vinyl chloride in ambient air monitoring system of the Ethyl Corporation's Baton Rouge Plant. This ambient air monitoring system basically consists of four independent gas chromatograph analyzers with alarms plus a minicomputer for data processing.rnThe description of the monitoring system provided in this paper will emphasize:rn1. The gas chromatograph multipoint sampling system (including time weighted average sample accumulators),rn2. The audible and visual field alarm network that facilitates protection of personnel from exposure to vinyl chloride, andrn3. The minicomputer data reduction and presentation formats.
