MULTI-POLARIZATION C- AND X-BAND SAR DATA FOR COASTLINE EXTRACTION

Two methods are proposed to exploit dual-polarimetricrnSAR data collected using coherent and incoherent polarimetricrnmodes for coastline extraction purposes. The coherentrnapproach allows emphasizing the land-sea contrastrnexploiting the reflection symmetry property of the observedrnscene. The incoherent approach exploits the peculiaritiesrnof the COSMO-SkyMed (CSK) PingPong modernto emphasize land-sea contrast.rnExperiments are undertaken over the South Italy coast usingrnRadarSAT-2 and CSK SAR data and GPS measurements.
