Effective EMI Evaluation of High Data Rate Interfaces

The evaluation of connectors using high data rate interfaces is of importance when designing and testing systems for compliance to the various international regulations. Unfortunately, the compliance tests are all performed on complete systems, and typically no information is available to aid the design engineer. This paper provides full details on a series of three measurement methods that can be made quickly and easily and provide the necessary information for the design engineer. These measurements provide transfer function information that can be used to ensure a high confidence that the interface will perform adequately prior to its integration into a far more complex system.
