摘要

Mode Field diameter (MFD) and cut-off wavelength (λc) are two very important performance parameters of the single-mode optical fiber, which are decided mainly by the refractive index (A value). In this paper, on the one hand, the optimum refractive index parameter of preform was designed by improving the core rod deposition process of the Vapor Axial Deposition (VAD); On the other hand, based on the thermodynamics principle of germanium dioxide (GeO_2) and tension characteristics of material, drawing tension and furnace temperature was properly adjusted during the drawing process of the optical fiber preform, so as to adjust the optical fiber refractive index. So the goal of great optical performance was realized, such as Mode Field diameter, cut-off wavelength, attenuation, hydrogen induced loss etc.
