摘要

Research activities in Marine Biotechnology Institute, bioremediation of spilled oil with the use of marine bacteria, development of a molecular biological tool for identification of microorganisms, and screenings for antibiotics and antibiofouling compounds will be discussed. A newly isolated and characterized oxygenic photosynthetic microorganism will be described with its unique pigment composition. Finally, we illustrate the possibility of direct CO_2 biofixation by marine microalgae.
